  2. I feel pretty comfortable with Parli-Pro after reading those website and watching the videos. I wouldn't say that I'm least comfortable with these two saying I just am getting a little confused by the means of them but I am working on away to memorize away to keep them straight. Those two saying would be "take from the table" and " lay on the table." I find it very beneficial that Parli-Pro can be used for many different things and that its more than likely to be used throughout different organizations. I really believe that we as an exec board should emesis the benefits of using Parlo-Pro here in our organization and actually teach it the proper way instead of making it the reps jobs to learn it on their own. One way we can help the reps learn how to use Parlo-pro is by showing them the videos that were provided to us (the ones above). We could also have a mock meeting and show them how Parli-pro is used. I believe that its important to tell our reps that our meetings are being held in a judge free zone, that its okay if they mess up motions while learning them. Its also important to remember that you learn from your mistakes.

  3. I actually recently just got done reading the entire Robert's Rules of Order, to which our bylaws list as the authority to our parliamentary procedure. After reading the manual I feel confident enough to run the meetings in a correct and proper manner.

What I would say I feel less comfortable on is the exact wording that I would use so that I don't say things in a way that goes against Parli-Pro. Also I'm still trying to get down what motion have precedence over another during a meeting, something that will be really important for me to know.

A few things that I read and saw that I thought was beneficial to learning Parli-Pro is knowing how much power the president has as far as deciding who gets to speak on the floor, which will allow me control over the time of the meetings.

I think that the videos in the link shown are set up really nicely and they should be shown to the representatives. I also like Mary Kate's idea about the mock meeting, that could probably be set up as a team builder exercise or something.

I feel that in order to keep an open environment when it comes to Parli-Pro is to keep it laid back, whereas instead of being harsh on someone who says or does something wrong just slightly correct them and let them know what they need to do in order to follow parli-pro

  4. I feel pretty comfortable using Parliamentary Procedure having been in RHA last semester and using it there. However, I am feeling uncomfortable with the idea of Previous Question because it is not something we used a lot in RHA last semester. One item that the website discussed is the minutes and as a the secretary I find that very beneficial. I also thought that the Order of Business and laying a motion on the table or the floor is helpful. I feel that we should utilize the websites in this post to help educate our representatives. We could show them to our representatives but have a Q&A session after each one to clarify some of the difficult topics. I also plan on placing a hint card on the back of the placards to help the reps. state what they want properly until they become more comfortable with ParlyPro. To keep it an open and inviting environment, I would like to share with the reps. that I had never dealt with ParlyPro until last semester and let them know that I had a million questions. I also want them to feel comfortable participating by not criticizing them when they state something incorrectly.
